About
The Alaska Interior Business Accelerator is a collaborative, regionally-focused program serving aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage business owners across Interior Alaska's Fairbanks North Star Borough, Denali Borough, Southeast Fairbanks, and Yukon-Koyukuk census areas. Established as Interior Alaska's first dedicated business accelerator, the program emerged from a partnership between the Fairbanks Economic Development Corporation, University of Alaska Fairbanks Center for Innovation, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship, the Alaska Small Business Development Center, and UAF's Community and Technical College. The accelerator operates an eight-week intensive cohort model that provides mentorship, workshops, networking opportunities, and access to investor networks designed to help founders launch and scale their ventures. The program culminates in a pitch competition with prizes for selected participants. Recent cohorts have produced measurable success, with alumni companies including Alaska Goldworks, a jewelry design studio; Lifted Marketing, a social media marketing company; McGraw IT, a full-service technology provider; and Robert Kinnard Career Coaching. The program accepts applications on a rolling or periodic basis, with cohorts typically meeting weekly at the Community and Technical College and North Pole Welcome Center locations. The underlying investment thesis centers on catalyzing economic diversification and entrepreneurial momentum in Alaska's interior region, helping founders move from concept to market validation and early growth.
