About

The Alaska Investor Network, formerly known as The 49th State Angel Investor Network, is an informal, unincorporated association of accredited investors based in Anchorage dedicated to developing Alaska's capital resources and economic ecosystem. The organization operates with a clear mission: connecting entrepreneurs with angel investors in an inclusive, low-barrier manner while fostering community engagement and education around startup investment. Rather than functioning as a traditional fund, the Network serves as a connector and convener, hosting monthly meetings, educational events, and networking forums including The Alaska Capital Community, ten buck lunch gatherings, and other community events that bring together entrepreneurs, investors, and stakeholders. The organization's investment thesis centers on building a uniquely Alaskan economic ecosystem by supporting startups both within and beyond the state. The Network collaborates with diverse stakeholders including accountants, attorneys, bankers, financial planners, business consultants, business schools, government entities, Alaska Native Corporations, and nonprofits that share its mission to promote commerce in Alaska. Members gain access to deal flow, community connections, educational resources, and the opportunity to participate in a curated investment community focused on early-stage ventures. The organization operates with varying levels of member engagement, recognizing that participants have different capacity and interest levels for involvement. As an angel group rather than a managed fund, the Network provides infrastructure and community for individual accredited investors to make their own investment decisions while benefiting from collective due diligence, networking, and market insights specific to Alaska's entrepreneurial landscape.
