SC Ventures and SBI Join Soter Insure's Series B
TL;DR: On November 5, 2026, Soter Insure said SC Ventures, Standard Chartered's ventures arm, and Japan's SBI Group joined its Galaxy led Series B as strategic investors, according to PR Newswire . T…

Because no terms came out, you can't size this deal. The round amount, the valuation and each investor's check are all unknown, so any figure attached to it is a guess until the company publishes one.
Who is in the Series B now?
The round has had two closes so far. Token Bay Capital, a Series A backer, returned as a follow-on investor in the second.
| Close | Investors named | Source |
|---|---|---|
| First close, July 2026 | Galaxy (lead), Coinbase Ventures, Franklin Templeton, Brevan Howard Digital | PR Newswire |
| Second close, November 2026 | SC Ventures, SBI Group, Token Bay Capital (follow-on) | PR Newswire |
Token Bay has backed Soter since the Series A, CryptoRank reports. Galaxy also led that earlier round, which Soter's February 2025 release on Yahoo Finance describes. A lead who comes back for the next round is a fact you can check, but it says nothing about the price paid.
Who are SC Ventures and SBI Group?
Both are institutional names. SC Ventures is the innovation and ventures arm of Standard Chartered. Since 2018, according to the PR Newswire release, it has built, operated and scaled ventures and made minority investments, "deploying more than $1 billion across 30+ portfolio companies globally." The same release says SBI Group was founded in 1999 and is a pioneer of internet-based financial services in Japan.
The release calls both "strategic investors." That usually means a bank or financial group with a business reason to stay close to the company as well as a financial return. No source says what commercial ties will follow.
What does Soter Insure sell, and what will it do with the money?
CryptoRank says Soter provides financial institutions with coverage including directors and officers liability, crime, slashing and smart contract failure, with policies denominated in fiat and native digital assets. It is headquartered in Abu Dhabi and operates out of Bermuda.
The proceeds have three stated uses, per CryptoRank: more insurance capacity, deeper underwriting and technology, and expansion in Asia-Pacific through its Hong Kong presence, plus Europe and the US. Capacity is the item to watch. An insurer can only write as much coverage as it can back, so a growth round for a specialist carrier is partly a balance-sheet story.
Slashing and smart contract failure are also the risks behind staked and tokenized products. If you hold any, it is worth knowing whether the platform carries cover for them and who the insurer is. That is my reading, not a claim any source makes.
What does this mean if you invest privately?
You cannot buy into this round from a brokerage account, and nothing here is a reason to try. The use of the news is as a read on where institutional money is going: banks and asset managers appear to be funding the plumbing around digital assets, such as insurance, and not only the assets themselves. That is an inference from the investor list.
The same habit helps with smaller deals. When a sponsor says a name-brand investor is in the round, ask what that investor committed and on what terms. Our look at corporate venture capital arms and QSBS covers how strategic money differs from pure financial money. Institutional appetite for digital-asset infrastructure shows up elsewhere too, as in the Mubadala Capital and KAIO tokenized fund.
Common mistakes when reading a funding announcement
A famous name is not a valuation signal. A strategic investor can join for access to a market, and the announcement rarely says at what price. A Series B label doesn't tell you size either, and here the amount is undisclosed.
The other trap is repeating a figure from a site that only repackages the release. Go to the origin. For this story that is the company's own PR Newswire release.
